Here at the Strategist UK, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed products and single out the most convincing ones. (You can learn more about our rating system and how we pick each item here.)
And whilst we’ve covered lots of technology before — including electric toothbrushes, ice cream makers and fans - here, we’ve rounded up the best water flossers for everyone, as praised by the most enthusiastic reviewers on Amazon.
Best-rated water flosser
We’ve featured the Bestope water flosser before, and it’s also a very popular option amongst Amazon reviewers — 307 reviewers loved how powerful the flosser was, with one confirming that it’s much more powerful than the previous flossers they’ve used. It’s important to note that this means those with sensitive teeth and/or gums may feel some discomfort on the highest settings — there are five in total. This is indicated by one reviewer with sensitive teeth, who only uses their flosser on the lowest setting. However, the range of satisfied customers span from those well-experienced in using water flossers, to those who have never tried water flossers or even regular dental floss before. One reviewer exclaimed that the Bestope water flosser has changed their dental care routine, while according to another, it’s like no other dental product they’ve used in the past. Fifty-one reviewers were also happy with the battery life, with one stating that their flosser lasts over a week when they use it once a day. The Bestope flosser comes with eight tips, including a tongue cleaner and a nose cleaner.
Best-rated water flosser for braces
This water flosser is specifically designed for family use, with a 600ml tank for several members of the family (or a flat share) to use with the same fill of water. With eight different tips — including a dental plaque tip, a tongue cleaner tip, and an orthodontic tip — this flosser is suitable for several desired uses, with one customer calling it ‘ideal’ for her daughter, who has braces. Another review wrote that after thinking their teeth were thoroughly cleaned before, they soon realised how much further the Apiker flosser went than an average electric toothbrush; they also recommended using tepid water, rather than cold, for a more comfortable experience. Though this is a pretty big flosser in comparison to some others on our list (with lots of different additional tips), 28 buyers were confident that it was easy to use. One complimented how ‘fun’, ‘quick’, and ‘no-fuss’ their flosser was to use, enthusiastically stating that they’ve now bought one for their mum.
Best-rated water flosser for sensitive teeth
Water flossers are, by nature, pretty powerful, so those with very sensitive teeth may be apprehensive about purchasing it. However, the Pecham cordless water flosser is recommended by 53 reviewers with sensitive teeth — they mostly use the softest setting of the three, and many suggest filling the reservoir with warm water rather than cold. One customer wrote that their gums used to bleed every morning while brushing, but since using this flosser — with a mix of mouthwash and water inside the reservoir — morning and night, the bleeding has stopped. Some buyers claim that using mouthwash with their flosser gives a more refreshing feel, but if you know that your sensitive teeth don’t take well to mouthwash, warm water will remove just as much food and plaque. Another reviewer praised how well the device worked for her as someone with braces; she calls the Pecham flosser ‘a lifesaver’ for keeping her teeth as clean as possible. The battery life is also a big plus, with 191 customers speaking highly of the battery, and one reporting that they only had to charge their flosser after three weeks, while using it twice a day.
Best-rated water flosser for battery life
Fairywill was a popular brand in our electric toothbrushes story, and its water flossers come just as enthusiastically recommended. With three different modes and a rotatable nozzle (plus two extra tips included), the Fairywill cordless flosser is appropriate for those with sensitive teeth as well as those who require more power. The cordless factor, and the size, mean that it’s great for travelling — and while it comes with a USB cable to charge, the battery life is also an important factor for many looking for a suitably portable water flosser. Seventy-two reviewers were positive about the battery life, with one claiming that the battery ‘seems to go on and on’ between charges, while another states that they haven’t had to charge the battery yet after several weeks of use. Another happy customer, who called the Fairywill flosser ‘the absolute best one’ they have used, writes that not only is the battery powerful, but the flosser is great for cleaning in between their dental implants. In fact, 140 reviews were complimentary of how powerful this flosser is, with one saying that their teeth have never felt cleaner after using it, due to how it ensures that ‘nothing is left behind’ between their teeth. The Fairywill also has a two-minute timer to let you know when you’re done.
Best-rated flosser with electric toothbrush
This set by Fairywill, consisting of an electric toothbrush and a water flosser, was highly rated, with 71 percent five star reviews. Twenty-one reviewers said how surprised they were at the toothbrush’s effectiveness — including one reviewer who said the battery lasted them over a month. Another customer said this model was better than their Oral-B toothbrush. One enthusiastic brusher said the sensitive mode, coupled with the timer functionality, had improved their over-brushing so much that their dentist remarked on it during a routine check-up. Fifty-four reviewers wrote favourably about the water flosser, too, with a further 45 calling it “easy to use”. Though the majority of first-time flossers reported their gums bleeding at first, this stopped after several uses, but almost all reviews suggested using the sensitive mode — one reviewer deemed the more intense settings too “ticklish”. The 300 milliliter water reservoir impressed four reviewers, as it held double the water of most smaller flossers on the market.
