Here at the Strategist UK, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy, but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed products and single out the most convincing ones. (You can learn more about our rating system and how we pick each item here.)

And while we’ve written about technology on the Strategist before — including the best treadmills, the best printers, and the best robot vacuumshere, we’ve rounded up the best smart TVs, as praised by the most enthusiastic reviewers on Amazon.

Best-rated overall smart TV

HISENSE 43-inch 4K UHD HDR Smart TV
£325

This TV by Chinese brand Hisense is the best rated overall, with 71 percent of reviews being five stars. 96 reviewers spoke positively of the picture quality, including one customer who said that, for the price, it was “faultless”. Another felt it was far from perfect, but that this model which was first released in 2020 is a perfect all-rounder. Value for money was also highlighted in 78 reviews. 69 reviewers said it was easy to set up, including several who noted the light frame meant that this TV was particularly easy to lift up and hang on a wall bracket. One customer, who bought this as a second screen for their bedroom, went as far as to say the picture was indistinguishable from their Sony TV, which cost three times as much money. The TV has two HDMI ports and one USB port, and while the sound quality was mentioned in 86 reviews, 19 reviewers mentioned using an external soundbar, which seemed to win over any naysayers. This TV is also available in 50-inch, 55-inch, and 65-inch sizes.

Best-rated OLED smart TV

LG 43 inch 4K UHD HDR Smart LED TV
£499

This TV by LG has 75 percent five-star reviews. As one user explains, OLEDs (it stands for organic light-emitting diodes) are the more advanced versions of LED screens, and as a result, these TVs tend to run more expensive. The result is a sharper picture — 114 reviewers noted the excellent picture quality in reviews, while a further 91 said they were impressed by the sound quality, too — one reviewer even said he put away his sound bar as he wasn’t able to notice a difference. Though set up is straightforward, including installing apps such as BBC iPlayer and Amazon Prime, many reviewers pointed out that an LG account is required to gain access to all the features of the TV. However, the model’s integrated Google assistant and Alexa capabilities were singled out in 17 reviews. This TV includes two HDMI ports and one USB port. It also comes with a smart remote, which 16 reviewers were particularly enamoured of (though some older reviews said this remote is sold separately, the most recent reviews of this product say it is now included with the TV). It allows customisable shortcuts to different apps or streaming services; one customer pre-set their toddler’s favourite YouTube channels for easy access. This TV also comes in 50-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch sizes.

Best-rated small smart TV

RCA 24 inch HD LED TV
£130

This RCA TV has 74 percent five-star reviews and was popular with customers looking for an inexpensive or smaller alternative. One reviewer wrote that while the sound quality wasn’t as impressive as his living room TV, he could watch this TV in his bedroom at night without waking up his next-door neighbours. Another customer got this model to use with his PS4, and said they would often use a sound bar to improve the sound. 161 customers said it offered excellent value for money, and the picture quality was mentioned by 70 reviewers, many of whom were surprised at just how good this affordable TV was. One customer, who bought this TV for the front cabin of their boat, said while the sound was mixed, it was good quality and easy to fix onto his wall. Eight reviewers wrote about the three HDMI ports which made connecting streaming devices particularly straightforward. This TV is also available in larger sizes: 32 inches and 50 inches.

Best-rated smart TV for gamers

£1,185

This LG OLED TV has 90 percent five-star reviews and was particularly popular with gamers. 24 reviewers said the picture quality was excellent — one person even said it was the best TV they’d ever owned. It comes with four HDMI ports which means you can, as one reviewer notes, have an Xbox, PS5, and PC all plugged in at the same time. This TV also allows settings to be programmed to each port, according to one reviewer, who had cinema settings and gaming settings programmed in to different ports. Another reviewer, who called this a “simply fantastic” TV, said it was the best model for VRR, or variable refresh rate, essentially what allows a game to play smoothly and avoid “screen tearing”, which is common in first-person shooter games like Fortnite. Another gamer was impressed that they had experienced zero lag when playing a multitude of PS5 games. One downside was the internal speakers — three reviewers said they were underwhelming, and six reviewers recommended a sound bar for the best experience.
